The History of CBD

CBD’s history goes back a lot further than many people know. The history of CBD has been around for more than half a century. It has a long and rich history with mankind. CBD is also known as Cannabidiol and is found in the Cannabis species like Hemp. It is part of a group of compounds called cannabinoids. It is a non-psychoactive compound so it does not cause a high. In recent years, CBD Hemp oil has become very popular for those who are seeking a natural health supplement. Cannabidiols can be taken in many different ways including vaping, pastes, capsules, edibles, and much more. It is a very fast-growing industry. In May 2018, the hemp business journal, USA said by 2020 the CBD industry could grow immensely and reach 2.1 billion and by 2021 reach 3.1 billion. So, let’s take a look at the history of CBD and who discovered CBD Oil.

Who Discovered CBD Oil?

CBD began in the 1940s
Cannabidiols were first discovered in 1940 by Roger Adams. He was the first professor at the University of Illinois to successfully extract CBD from the cannabis plant. However, Roger Adams was not aware that the extraction was successful until years later.
In 1946, the first CBD test was conducted on lab animals by Dr Walter S. Loewe. This test gave proof that CBD doesn’t cause any mental psychoactive state.
In the 1960s’, Dr Raphael Mechoulam, an Israeli chemist, took the research further synthesizing cannabinoids including THC, CBD, and others. Further, into the 1960s, the first CBD oil was released by the British Pharmacopoeia.

The Endocannabinoid System In the year 1988, scientists found the 1st cannabinoid receptor in a rat’s brain. These receptors only reacted to the compound THC and were found in parts of the brain responsible for physiological and mental processing such as high cognition, memory, motor coordination, and emotion.
Scientists then found in 1993 the 2nd cannabinoid receptor which is part of the central nervous and immune systems. Researchers then released that they were onto something big.
In 1995, scientists found that these cannabinoid receptors were now officially known as CB1 and CB2 receptors found in both humans and rats.
Due to the improvements in clinical trials, knowledge, and technology, researchers were able to turn around what they had found and trace back the metabolic route of numerous cannabinoids. What scientists then uncovered was the signalling system between CB1 and CB2 cannabinoid receptors that are found in our bodies and also the receptors found in Cannabis compounds. These compounds were then officially named endocannabinoids. With the role that the cannabinoids play on the body, the system was officially named the Endocannabinoid system.
Cannabinoids are designed to work with the human body and they are considered an essential part to maintain our overall wellness and health.

The future of CBD Oil

The future is very bright for CBD Oil supplements. More and more people are seeing a lot of health and wellness benefits from CBD making it grow in popularity rapidly. Scientists are still researching CDB and conducting experiments that reveal its benefits. CBD offers many health and wellness benefits to the human mind and body.
